How to set up a blog? But first thing first; what is really a blog? A simple check From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia shows the follows:-
A blog (a blend of the term web log) is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video............
In a nutshell; personally, i consider a blog as a personal internet platform whereby we could share our thoughts, views, even products and services with millions of people out there ( when well positioned with search optimization, search engine optimization or SEO ). It also serves as an interacting networking mini-webpage where comments are allowed from visitors of the said blog.
Out of the many blog hosts available; i'd opted for Blogger - a blog publishing service bought over by Google in 2003 and the rest is history; as far as blogging is concern!
To date, although Blogger is well received and used very extensively world-wide; there are still some countries which 'felt' Blogger were not being beneficial towards their nation building and hence national securities. These countries include Mainland China, Cuba, Iran, Pakistan, Fiji, Myanmar etc. just to name a few.
Personally, what fascinated me most about Blogger - by Google was its ability to attract millions, if not billions of blog enthusiasts on board via proving a trend / hobby of blogging and make money online for FREE; and yet Blogger together with AdSense contributes almost 1/3 of Google annual revenue as at Q3 2010.
Google 2010 Q3 Financial Highlights
Revenues – Google reported revenues of $7.29 billion in the third quarter of 2010, representing a 23% increase over third quarter 2009 revenues of $5.94 billion. Google reports its revenues, consistent with GAAP, on a gross basis without deducting TAC.
Google Sites Revenues - Google-owned sites generated revenues of $4.83 billion, or 67% of total revenues, in the third quarter of 2010. This represents a 22% increase over third quarter 2009 revenues of $3.96 billion.
Google Network Revenues - Google’s partner sites generated revenues, through AdSense programs, of $2.20 billion, or 30% of total revenues, in the third quarter of 2010. This represents a 22% increase from third quarter 2009 network revenues of $1.80 billion..........
Blogging with Blogger is a joy for its functions are user friendly. Many default templates are available especially when we are beginners to Blogger to guide us through smoothly.
Also, there is no preset limit as to the number of blogspot.com we could create and blog with. But the icing on the cake is none other than the opportunity to make money online, blogging here with Google Adsense - be it
- AdSense for Content,
- AdSense for Domains,
- AdSense for Search,
- AdSense for Video, now in ( beta )
- AdSense for Feeds, and
- Google Affiliate Network ( GAN )
Generally, what to consider before we consider starting a blog?
- What do we want to talk / blog about? It can be anything from sky to heaven but as a basic rule to make money blogging, we'd better blog about some topic with commercial value eg. weight loss, quit smoking, working from home, going green and pets to name a few niche marketing strategy.
- Content: the blood of blogging; original content generates revenue. We could either be article orientated or picture / video orientated or adopt the best of both worlds.
- General links and backlink to enrich content. Enhance with Snap Shots - the world's most popular way to give your users a more fun and interactive experience on your site or blog. It's a complete system designed to help you get more from your site.
- Highlight those important content or keywords with italic or different color.
- How frequent do we post blog? While there is no fixed hard rule on frequency, a constant daily supply of original blog content is seen as viable to eventual financial liberalization with blogging.
- Do you maintain account on FaceBook or Twitter? With Blogger, we could attach both these gadgets onto our blog site hence generate more blog traffic.
- Generate blog feeds with FeedBurner - a web feed management provider launched in 2004 and currently own by Google and renamed Googlefeedburner ( beta).
- Go to ( top right corner ) Design > Template Designer and create the face of your blog. They say we were seldom given a second chance to leave the first impression; how also true in blogging as there are seemingly countless blog out there on a given topic, 'why must i follow yours?' 'what's so special about your blog, so to say?'
- Last but not least, allow comments for comments from viewers and readers are ways to feedback - how blog savvy are we? Comments are blog yardsticks.
- Finally, lets start with Blogger, if you haven't got a blogspot. For what better ways to consider ( Blogger ) than when we are actually blogging with it. The good, the bad, the ugly so on and so forth. When we find Blogger to be good, take it; not so good, leave it; bad, well unless you are those above-mentioned governments, ban it!
Its really a great Blog. affiliate marketing is a huge business piece on the Internet. It is a cooperative effort between merchants and an affiliate's website.
