There must be a way to help this family
Column: Being homeless was cruel enough for Destiny Himmel and her mother. A cancer diagnosis for the 16-year-old compounds the misery.
So you think you've got it bad this holiday season? Here's a story that will put things in perspective for you, no matter how grim your job prospects or how invisible your shrinking retirement fund.
The other day, at their invitation, I met Kerry Himmel, an unemployed truck driver, and her 16-year-old daughter, Destiny, at a McDonald's on Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley.
But they weren't there to eat. That's where they live.
For about two years, mother and daughter have been anchored in that McDonald's parking lot, living in their Ford Explorer and avoiding eviction by moving now and then to a nearby Ralph's parking lot. They favor the McDonald's, though, because there's a bathroom with an outdoor entrance.
so she kept Destiny in the hospital for several weeks even though the teen wasn't a Kaiser member. |
This "family" is a scam/con artist dual. My girlfriend let these people move into her beverly hills apartment while they did some part time work at my girlfriends family's company. after one month the mother "Kerry Himmel" asked to live for free because she wanted to spend the time taking Destiny to auditions for acting and didn't want to waste the time working. My girlfriend urged the mother to keep working as this was a more respectful lifestyle. They spent their money on two purebred domermans and a very expensive computer system and a very expensive car. They just want to freeload off of everyone. They have no intention of working.
ReplyDeleteDon't pity these people. Its disgusting. Google Destiny Himmel and you will see pages she hosts to collect money to travel for her to see her friends who are supposedly dying of cancer. Also she did have a small bout of cancer but shaves her head for effect. She doesnt lose her hair like it states. These two women are con artists. They prey on innocent bleeding hearts. Sorry!
